its the best salaam

heeyyloo
im in north carolina visiting my sister hannah. i like it here. i have no responsibilities.. alhamdulillah. i only have to worry about my next meeting with the associate dean and faculty back in san antonio. i dont even know why i have to meet with them again. argh well it doesnt matter ne ways. i have no “religious requests”.

i just caught myself singing “glory to the newborn king”
this is a line from a song about Jesus(pbuh). there’s so much mumbo jumbo in my head. so much space that’s filled with lyrics to useless songs…some even harmful astaghfirullah. i remember learning christmas songs throughout my elementary school years. also, songs about halloween and new years.
i don’t know of any muslim parents who requested their children to not take choir/music. i wonder if anyone has tried that. i’m sure inshaAllah. but then there’s classroom activities. coloring christmas cards, exchanging valentines cards/candy.
some people might think of those things as small and minute. but its time wasted. filled spaces in a child’s mind that could have been filled with quran and islamic history.
i guess the solution would be stringent parent involvement in public schools, islamic school, or homeschool
you decide.
